A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Since I could hold a pencil in my hands, I've always had an interest in art. I studied art at school and
attended private art classes under the adventurous hand of Jane McCabe. I regard myself
as relatively self taught and perhaps I would consider myself 'blessed' with artistic genes.
Through the years, I dabbled in many mediums such as pastels, acrylics, watercolours, oils
charcoal drawing, calligraphy, fabric painting and even taught ceramic painting.
Watercolour is my passion! I believe that the heart leads the way of an artist's soul,
hence my choice in medium. I only embarked in serious painting in 2008 when I realised my children would
soon be off my hands and out the house and needed a creative outlet to help me utilize my time. Together
with the help of my family, inspirational art friends, workshops, art classes and art books, I have
managed to grow as an artist and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to follow my passion. Highlights of
mine were travelling overseas to the UK on numerous occasions to attend workshops with my 'mentor' and friend
Jean Haines and attend a number of local South African and international artist demonstrations and workshops,
I'm honoured to have met some wonderful people, the likes of Hazel Soan, Richard Rennie, Ingrid Kolzing
to name but a few.
As well as being a member of the (WSSA) Watercolour Society of South Africa I'm also on the
National Executive Committee.
I have exhibited artwork at Manor Gallery in Fourways.
Thanks to all the special people who have helped me in this incredible journey
exploring the wonderfully illusive magic of watercolours.
